Clinical supervision
Medipsy offers clinical supervision to established professionals, to new professionals and to those seeking accreditation as a psychotherapist. All supervisors have credentials that meet the requirements of Bill 21.
Supervision for licensed (established) psychologists and psychotherapists
The OPQ requires that all professionals offering psychotherapy services complete 5 hours of individual supervision over each 5 year period. You can fulfill that requirement with a Medipsy supervisor. The supervisor's hourly rate will apply. For more information, please email us at info@medipsy.ca.
Supervision for those wishing to apply for the psychotherapy permit
If you are a member of a professional order who is eligible to receive the psychotherapist accreditation and are no longer registered as a student in university, Medipsy offers supervision that can help you fulfill the supervision requirements of Bill 21. Different options are available you, based on your needs and current situation:
-
Supervision only: if you already have your own patients and clients, you may receive supervision for these cases at Medipsy. The supervisor's usual rate will apply. Please email us at info@medipsy.ca for more information.
-
Supervision and referrals from Medipsy: it is also possible for Medipsy to refer patients to you, and to provide supervision free of charge for these patients. These patients need to be seen in our Montreal - Westmount office. Please note that these positions are highly competitive. All applicants must be bilingual. Applicants must have completed a minimum of 120 hours of direct contact before applying for these positions. The internship is unpaid and meets the requirements of the OPQ. Individuals who are licensed with their Order and who wish to complete the supervised clinical training required as per Bill 21 must meet a number of requirements before they can see patients. Please visit this page for more information about these requirements. For more information, please contact Dr. Marilyn Fitzpatrick at marilyn.fitzpatrick@mcgill.ca.
Supervision for students and internships
Students can practice at Medipsy. This can be done through a formal internship (with university credits), or as a way to obtain additional clinical experience. Please visit our page on internships for more information about formal internship placements (with university credits). Please note that these internships are highly competitive; students are required to already have clinical experience before applying for an internship and must be bilingual.
It is also possible for advanced doctoral students to see patients to complete additional training (without university credit). These students must remain registered as university students and will be required to register with the Order of psychologists of Quebec as doctoral students offering psychotherapy services. These positions are also highly competitive; students are required to already have clinical experience before applying, and must be bilingual. For more information, please contact Dr. Marilyn Fitzpatrick at marilyn.fitzpatrick@mcgill.ca. These students will receive payment for the services they offer and will be given supervision, free of charge.
